ANEL visits Brussels

Ignacio Ugalde, president of the Association of Social Economy Enterprises of Navarre, passed by our Office during his trip to Brussels, which he used to meet with several officials from various European institutions. Sergio Pérez, Director General of External Affairs, along with the rest of the Office’s staff, welcomed him and explained the Office’s various functions and responsibilities. 

He learned about the workings of the CoR, the only EU body in which Navarre has direct representation and plays a significant role. He also met with various officials and staff members of the European Commission, to whom he explained the importance of the cooperative sector in our region, as well as its economic impact and the number of people it directly employs throughout the territory. The social economy is booming, and we wanted to accompany ANEL on its tour of Brussels so that the EU recognizes the importance of this sector for our future.

From our side, we explained how we operate and the various networks we work with at the heart of the EU. We hope this trip has helped bring this sector a little closer to the various stakeholders based here in Brussels.
