The 22nd European Week of Regions and Cities took place from 7th to 10th of October of 2024 in Brussels.
The Second Vice-President and Regional Minister for Memory and Coexistence, External Action and Basque, Ana Ollo participated online in a meeting with the partners of the ECIV project. She highlighted the leadership of the Autonomous Community of Navarra in the field of innovation in Europe, referring to the project as “a practical experience of regional development in collaboration with other regions of the European Union”.
It’s worth remembering that Navarra has been chosen as the coordinator of the European ECIV project consortium, in which nine territories from nine different countries, comprising 17 regions, participate.
This event was organized by the Directorate of External Action and the Navarra Office in Brussels and was attended by the Director of the Strategic Projects Service S4 and Entrepreneurship of the Department of Industry, Ecological Transition and Digital Business, Delia Sola, and Maria Pedrosa, project manager of SODENA.
The Regional Minister for Social Rights, Social Economy and Employment, Carmen Maeztu, participated in another session organized by the Automotive Regions Alliance in the European capital.
Both Regional Ministers underlined Navarra’s commitment to the regions’ contribution to a Europe that is “economically developed but environmentally sustainable and socially cohesive”.
The Euroregion Nouvelle-Aquitaine Euskadi Navarra also held a meeting between the heads of the three delegations in Brussels. It was attended by the Director General for External Action, Sergio Pérez, the Director of the Euroregion, Arola Urdangarín, the Director of the New-Aquitaine representation in Brussels, Marie-Pierre Mesplčde and the Basque Country delegate to the EU, Marta Marín.
Sergio Pérez explained that the aim of this meeting was to “make the most of the opportunity that the new European period and the new European Commission represent for the Euroregion Nouvelle-Aquitaine Euskadi Navarra, in line with the Euroregional Strategy 2021-2017”. He encouraged “to strengthen lobbying actions in Brussels to convey the reality of cross-border territories, this being one of the priorities of Navarra’s presidency of the Euroregion”.
